What is Bring Them Down about?
The plot summary for Bring Them Down, as described by IndieWire, goes like this: Michael (Abbott), who’s the last child from a shepherding family, resides with his ailing father, Ray (Colm Meaney). Plagued by guilt over his mother’s death, Michael has withdrawn from society. However, when a dispute with rival farmer Gary (Paul Ready) and his son Jack (Keoghan) intensifies, Michael becomes embroiled in a series of tragic events that compel him to face the demons of his past. This confrontation leaves lasting impacts on both families.
Originally, Paul Mescal and Tom Burke were selected for the main roles in the movie “Bring Them Down.” However, they were later replaced by Keoghan and Abbott in 2023. In September 2024, the film made its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Andrews was nominated for Best Debut Director for his work on “Bring Them Down” at the British Independent Film Awards in November 2024.
Julianne Forde, Jacob Swan Hyam, Ivana MacKinnon, Jean-Yves Roubin, Ruth Treacy, and Cassandre Warnaut are in charge of production for the film.
Keoghan is recognized for appearing in films like “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” (2017), “Eternals” (2021), “The Banshees of Inisherin” (2022), and “Saltburn” (2023), with his next project, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” directed by Trey Edward Shults, set to premiere in May 2025. On the other hand, Abbott has been featured in films such as “Possessor” (2020), “Sanctuary” (2022), and “Kraven the Hunter” (2024), and he’s currently working on “Blumhouse’s Wolf Man,” which is scheduled for a nationwide release next weekend.
