As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen countless games come and go, but few have managed to captivate me like Balatro has this year. The Friends of Jimbo 2 update is just the cherry on top of an already fantastic game.
Today, the popular poker game Balatro, which specializes in Joker cards, has received a significant free upgrade. This update, titled Friends of Jimbo 2, introduces decks inspired by various well-known indie and AAA games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Binding of Isaac, Slay the Spire, and Stardew Valley. The best part? This upgrade is available for free on consoles, PCs, and mobile devices starting today!
This week, Developer Localthunk disclosed information about the update for Balatro’s Friends of Jimbo 2 on their studio’s social media platform. In this post, they unveiled details of the update. Basically, fresh content from various games is introduced as new decks. Players can access these updates by navigating to Settings and Customize Decks from the main menu. This feature enables them to trade out deck appearances with the new choices, such as swapping V, Johnny Silverhand, and Jackie onto the cards for the Cyberpunk 2077 deck. Additionally, themes for decks inspired by Slay the Spire, Binding of Isaac, and Stardew Valley will be incorporated.
It appears that our group is expanding! The friends of Jimbo 2 expansion pack is now out for free update on PC, console, and mobile devices today!

As a gamer, I can’t help but sing praises for Balatro. It’s been one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played this year, and it just keeps getting better. When it first launched, it was great, but Localthunk hasn’t stopped there. They’ve added new Jokers, a mobile version, and even free updates like the Friends of Jimbo content. To top it off, Shacknews gave the original game a solid review. This game just keeps delivering!
At Localthunk, we guarantee that there’s even more excitement in store for Balatro! Keep an eye on this space as we bring you the latest news and insights about the game exclusively at Shacknews.
