Protect the Boss

As a long-time fan of Korean dramas, I can confidently say that “Protect the Boss” is one of my all-time favorites. Having watched countless hours of K-dramas, I have come to appreciate the intricate plots and captivating characters that they often present.

Time Slip Dr. Jin

The series “Time Leap: Dr. Jin” aired on May 26, 2012. This drama chronicles the life of Dr. Jin Hyuk, portrayed by Song Seung-Heun, who is relentless in his pursuit of perfection and often comes across as rude and arrogant. In an unexpected twist, he travels back in time to the Joseon Dynasty during the 1860s. As the doctor applies his contemporary knowledge to heal patients, he discovers the true value of his profession. Concurrently, Kim Jae-Joong plays the role of military officer Kim Kyung-Tak. The drama can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video (in certain regions).

Spy

Title character Bae Jong-Ok stars in a gripping thriller series titled “Protecting My Son.” In this show, we follow the story of a mother named Park Hye-Rim who fiercely desires to shield her child. Hye-Rim leads a balanced life, caring for her family while also having a past as a North Korean informant. However, when she’s tasked with recruiting her son Kim Seon-Woo (portrayed by Kim Jae-Joong) for espionage, she finds herself torn between loyalty to her country and love for her son. In the end, Hye-Rim takes every step necessary to safeguard Seon-Woo. Coincidentally, Seon-Woo works for the National Intelligence Service (NIS). The series debuted on January 9, 2015, and can be found streaming on Viki and Amazon Prime Video.

Manhole

I’m totally hooked on the captivating K-drama titled “Manhole,” which made its debut on August 9, 2017. This series centers around a character named Bong Pil, portrayed by Kim Jae-Joong. Unemployed and reliant on his parents for financial support as he prepares for the civil services exam, Bong Pil’s life takes an unexpected turn when he travels back in time through a manhole to prevent his crush, Kang Soo-Jin (played by Uee), from getting married. With only a week until the wedding, Bong Pil embarks on a mission to change fate. You can catch this drama streaming on Viki and Netflix (in certain regions).

Besides Triangle and Vacation, some other well-known projects by Kim Jae-Joong are Postman to Heaven, Dating on Earth, and a number of other movies. If you’d like to catch his performance, tune in to the MBN K-drama Bad Memory Eraser featuring Kim Jae-Joong.
