Ayo Edebiri’s Omni Loop Director Wants Her to Write & Direct Movies

As a seasoned gamer, I’ve come to appreciate the art of storytelling in various forms, from games to films and television shows. Having followed Ayo Edebiri’s career trajectory, I must say that her talent is undeniable. Her versatility as an actor, writer, and now director, is reminiscent of the non-linear narratives we encounter in our favorite RPGs.

Filmmaker Bernardo Britto collaborated with Ayo Edebiri on his recent movie, Omni Loop, and expressed that it would be a pity if this gifted actress didn’t write or direct films in the future.

In a recent chat with ComingSoon, Britto extolled Edebiri’s virtues, describing her as an enjoyable conversation partner and an exceptional individual overall. He further commended her writing skills, stating that Edebiri and Mary-Louise Parker (co-starring in Omni Loop with Edebiri) are both outstanding writers.

Britto expressed his hope that Edebiri would eventually have the opportunity to write and direct her own project, stating that it would disappoint him if she didn’t.

What did Britto say about Edebiri?

Britto stated, “Much like Mary-Louise, Ayo possesses remarkable writing skills and has previously contributed to TV productions. Frankly, it wouldn’t shock me – it would actually disappoint me – if she doesn’t create her own movie in the future. Given her immense talent for storytelling and deep passion for cinema, I fully expect that she will write and direct something of her own in the coming years.

Though Edebiri hasn’t made or overseen a full-length movie yet, she has previously dabbled in these roles within television production. Before her ascent to acting fame, Edebiri was a scriptwriter for notable productions such as What We Do in the Shadows, The Eric Andre Show, and Mulligan.

Additionally, in Season 3 of The Bear, where Edebiri plays a role, she switched from being in front of the camera to standing behind it. Specifically, she directed the sixth episode titled “Napkins,” which delved deeply into the character Tina’s past.
