This week, I hopped on social media to share an experience I had – a bit of online harassment that kicked off when Elon Musk responded to a bogus rumor suggesting I’d joined the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean. Quite a wild ride!
What did Ayo Edebiri say about the Pirates of the Caribbean rumors?
In her latest Instagram Story, Edebiri posted a screenshot showing Elon Musk’s reaction to a rumor from February 2024 about her potentially replacing Johnny Depp in a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film. The original post, which has since been removed, sparked Musk to comment with “Disney is disappointing.
In her narrative, Edebiri reminisced about that particular period, acknowledging it as one where she received some of the most extreme death threats and racial insults she had ever encountered. Furthermore, she didn’t hesitate to criticize Musk, labeling him as a “fascist giving the sieg heil” and “a fool,” before dismissing the Pirates 6 rumor as baseless.
In simpler terms, “Edebiri wrote that she recalled receiving some of the craziest death threats and racial slurs in her life (possibly number one moment, definitely top 3), all because of a fake remake of a movie she had never heard about. This was due to a certain man. She laughed it off, saying he’s not only giving Nazi salutes to fascist ideas, but he’s also an idiot.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that, based on recent updates from The DisInsider, it seems Johnny Depp, the legendary actor who brought Jack Sparrow to life across all five Pirates of the Caribbean movies, is planning his comeback to this cherished series. It appears Disney is subtly getting ready to start filming Pirates of the Caribbean 6 at some point soon, and I can’t wait for Depp to rejoin the franchise once more!
