Avowed: Totem of Defiance Mission Guide

In the game Avowed, obtaining the Totem of Defiance may require some effort. This guide is designed to make the process smoother for you, helping you to acquire the desired buffs more efficiently.

As a brave gamer venturing through the lands of Avowed, I’m tasked with a challenging mission titled “Totem of Defiance.” The objective is to restore the Schemer’s Offerings, but be prepared – this isn’t an easy feat!

To accomplish this mission, I’ll need to traverse various locations scattered across the Emerald Stair region. By piecing together the totem, I can unlock its powerful buffs. However, restoring the Schemer’s Offering is just the beginning – I’ll also need to collect six additional items. These include:

3. Item 3
4. Item 4
5. Item 5
6. Item 6

Once I have all seven items, I can successfully complete the Totem of Defiance mission and reap its rewards!

Players can complete the ritual for restoring Schemer’s Offering only after gathering all the required items. However, it’s not necessary to collect them sequentially; instead, we’ll be going through them this way in our guide. Some areas will become accessible as you advance further into the story.

As a dedicated gamer, if I were to complete this ritual in pursuit of restoring the Totem of Defiance, Avowed would grant me these extra edge boosters: Furious Frenzy, The Slave’s Patience, Hidden Hatred, Kill the Master, Bitter Thoughts, and A Vengeful Victim. These buffs will enhance both my abilities and those of my party members.

Putting Together the Totem of Defiance in Avowed

Schemer’s Offering

As we mentioned earlier, the totem fragments aren’t in any specific sequence. Nonetheless, we recommend starting at the base of the totem, which is situated at the Shrine dedicated to Skaen. You can commence your ascent from the side of the shrine itself. Jump onto the stone platform first, then continue with some parkour moves upwards. The route should be clear and uncomplicated, so you won’t have to ponder much during your climb. There are also a health potion and a letter placed halfway through, but don’t fret as there aren’t any dangers lurking around. Reach the top and gather the totem base when you get there.

Idol of Covert Plots

You just need a quick trip to the Infested Camp, which is located near the swampy Grim Wetlands. Follow your map to reach this spot, as it’s one of the few structures in this area and appears quite dilapidated. It resembles a church, but the main door is sealed. Look for a cliff connecting to this building. You should easily notice a wooden bridge leading to a hole in the roof of the building from here. Carefully make your way down the hole and interact with the Idol of Covert Plots to collect it.

Idol of Violent Rebellion

During your current journey, you’ll be directed towards the towering Ranger Headquarters, situated to the east of Fior mes Iverno. The Idol of Violent Rebellion isn’t at the very summit, but rather perched quite high on this structure. To reach it, make your way to the wooden platform constructed alongside it and use the crates depicted in the image above as stepping stones. Once you arrive there, notice a ledge on the tower that you can sprint up to and grab hold of. Go ahead and do so!

Continue along the trail that has been marked out for you, likely laid out by the park rangers. As you navigate through your parkour, you’ll find yourself at a location with a collection of small crates on an elevated platform. Here, you can retrieve the Idol of Violent Rebellion.

Obsidian Prayer Beads

Head towards Delemgan Glade Beacon’s western side, crossing the large bridge. Along your journey, you might encounter a significant battle in the arena, which is linked to the main storyline. It’s uncertain if you can reach this location prior to that specific mission. Near the arena, look for an archway (as depicted in the picture provided). As you walk past it, notice a small gap or crevice on your left side.

Pass through narrowly, make a left turn, and go beneath the fallen tree. Right away, perform a U-turn so you can ascend the tree trunk. After reaching the upper level, turn left again, then make another left turn at the first opportunity to reach an additional solitary platform where your Obsidian Prayer Beads are located.

Sacrificial Dagger

To acquire the desired item, simply make your way to the abandoned farmlands, located north of the Rolling Crags. On the exterior wall of one barn, you’ll notice a note secured by a Sacrificial Dagger. Feel free to take it without any fuss or need for acrobatics or combative skills, but be aware that there may be some enemies lurking around.

Idol of Secret Hatred

This location is situated within the Ancient Grotto, and it’s quite near the Overgrown Homestead. In actuality, it sits right between Naku Tedek Grounds and the Overgrown Homestead, easily identified by a stone dungeon door symbol. Upon entering, veer left, descend the stairs, and navigate across the potentially dangerous-looking water by first jumping onto a rock and then onto the platform beyond. Keep to the path while occasionally glancing to your left, and you’ll come across a room illuminated by a bluish torch. Duck down and pass through the hole in the wall, and it will guide you to the next section of the totem.

Effigy Necklace

Until they’ve completed the mission called “Ancient Soil,” players won’t be able to locate that particular item. This task leads you to the Naku Tedek Grounds, where it becomes part of the main storyline and allows access to a hidden door. Once within, engage with the generator to trigger a cutscene. Proceed left and find a locked door. Just use the nearby switch with a lightning attack while in range, and it will open. There’ll be water obstructing your way forward. Overcome this obstacle by freezing it with ice grenades and then reach out for the ledge located further ahead.

Head over to the Ritual Grounds (or Festival Site) and put the totem where it belongs. After that, perform the ceremony by arranging all the offerings around the item you’ve set up.

Here are some more suggestions:

– Go to Camp Celebration and place the totem in the appropriate spot. Proceed with the ritual by setting up the items after making an offering.
– Visit Party Grounds and position your totem as instructed. Carry out the ceremony by arranging all the items following the offering you’ve made.
– Head to the Festival Camp and set the totem in its assigned location. Perform the rite by placing the offerings around it, after you have put them down.
– Travel to the Party Sanctuary and situate your totem as directed. Complete the ritual by surrounding it with all the offered items.
