Actress Lauren Ridloff, known for playing Makkari in the film Eternals, has voiced her opinions on whether the team might reassemble for Avengers: Doomsday. Released in cinemas on November 5, 2021, Eternals was directed by Chloe Zhao and boasted a star-studded cast including Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Ridloff, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Salma Hayek, among others.
Lauren Ridloff says Eternals’ return in Avengers: Doomsday is ‘not likely’
Recently, Lauren Ridloff participated at SXSW for the film “Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore” and discussed with The Direct about the possibility of Eternals appearing in “Avengers: Doomsday”.
It was questioned whether Eternals might feature in the spectacular Doomsday event, to which the actress seemed unsure and indicated through hand gestures that it’s unlikely. She implied this by saying something along the lines of “I don’t think so. I have my doubts, my crystal ball is suggesting ‘Not likely.’
Recently, Marvel Studios unveiled the ensemble for Avengers: Doomsday via a live broadcast, and interestingly, no members of the Eternals cast were mentioned, leaving fans questioning the fate of that team within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In a different tone from what she expressed in November 2022, Ridloff hinted at a potential comeback. Previously, when asked by Insider about her character’s future appearance, she responded ambiguously, saying, “Well, I hope so. I would think so, but who knows? We are all waiting.
In July 2024, during an interview with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Inverse asked if there were any plans for a second Eternals movie. Feige responded that as of now, there are no imminent plans for Eternals 2, but hinted at future plans involving the Tiamut island shown in the Captain America: Brave New World trailer.
He mentioned, “You might have noticed in a recent trailer, we’ve acknowledged some of those incidents. Monstrous creatures emerged from the sea.
