Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios have been speaking about the potential cast members for the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” after a big online event. Downey hinted that more actors might be joining the project, while Marvel stated that there are still casting announcements to be made in the future. This suggests that Marvel is being secretive and that the size of the upcoming superhero collaboration may change.
More Marvel actors could join Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday’s cast
Marvel Studios has announced that there will be even more actors joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, beyond the 27 already revealed. Following the live stream announcement, Robert Downey Jr. playfully commented, “That’s what they call a deep pool of talent… or maybe it’s more like a really long row… That must be it… right?” Marvel’s official account responded with, “There’s always space for more,” mirroring reports from The Hollywood Reporter that further revelations are on the horizon.
Filming for the movie has started, with the team shooting numerous scenes on indoor sets to preserve secrecy. Notably missing from the confirmed cast are big names from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), such as Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Mark Ruffalo, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Renner, and others.
It’s highly unlikely that Scarlett Johansson will reappear since Marvel Studios already wrote off her character Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) in Endgame. As for Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), she wasn’t included in the revealed roster, and Marvel has yet to disclose any specifics regarding her potential future appearances.
It’s been confirmed that some original X-Men cast members, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer, are set to reprise their roles. Interestingly, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore were not explicitly mentioned in the list. Channing Tatum will join the cast following his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled that Marvel chose to work with Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor), despite past controversies. He refuted the 2023 misconduct allegations, and no substantial complaints were made afterwards. Marvel hasn’t shared when they’ll unveil more cast members yet.
