The mighty Avengers will reunite for another epic adventure, as Marvel unveils the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” during a live event spanning over 5 and a half hours on YouTube and their social media platforms.
I’m thrilled to share that among the familiar faces rejoining the cast are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson (who first appeared as Captain America in “Brave New World” last month), his on-screen partner Danny Ramirez playing Joaquin Torres, the latest Falcon; Sebastian Stan back as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier; Paul Rudd returning as Scott Lang/Ant-Man; Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki; Letitia Wright set to appear again as Shuri, who stepped into the Black Panther mantle in “Wakanda Forever”; and Winston Duke joining us once more as M’Baku. Additionally, Tenoch Huerta Mejia will be making an appearance as Namor the Sub-Mariner. It seems Chris Evans might not be returning as we previously reported last year. Perhaps that was a slip-up on our part?
New arrivals are joining the “Avengers” team, among them Pedro Pascal playing Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby as his screen wife, the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn stepping into the role of Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach portraying the Thing. These characters are from “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” which premiered this summer. Additionally, Florence Pugh will star as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Lewis Pullman as an enigmatic character, and Simu Liu reprising his role as Shang-Chi from previous appearances.
*Note: Thunderbolts is the name of a Marvel Comics team, but I couldn’t find information that suggests it will be a movie title.
Related How & Why is Robert Downey Jr. Playing Doctor Doom in the MCU?
Last July, it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Robert Downey Jr., who used to play Iron Man (now deceased), is going to take on the role of the antagonist, Doctor Doom, in the forthcoming “Avengers” movie.
Among the most unexpected revelations is that a number of original “X-Men” actors will reprise their roles for “Avengers: Doomsday.” The ensemble of mutants features Patrick Stewart, who seemingly perished in both “Logan” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” yet returns; Ian McKellen, last spotted as Magneto in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”; Kelsey Grammer, who made a brief appearance as Beast in the end credits scene of “The Marvels”; Alan Cumming, reprising his role as Nightcrawler from “X2”; James Marsden, returning as Cyclops; Channing Tatum, known for portraying Gambit in “Deadpool & Wolverine”; and Rebecca Romijn, who initially played Mystique before Jennifer Lawrence assumed the shape-shifting character in the “X-Men” prequels.
Marvel has planned two exciting releases: “Thunderbolts” will be out on May 2, followed by “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25. However, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is set to premiere in theaters on May 1, 2026.
