The unveiling of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday contained a hidden reference and tribute to a superhero’s abilities, which went unnoticed by many during the longer-than-usual live stream from Marvel. Nevertheless, some viewers did notice it and shared their findings on social media. Later, Greg Dunbar from Marvel Studios confirmed that this was indeed an intentional Easter egg, not just a coincidence.
Joseph Quinn had a special Johnny Storm Easter egg in Avengers: Doomsday’s cast reveal
On March 26, 2025, Marvel unveiled the cast members for Avengers: Doomsday during a live broadcast on their social media platforms. Among them was Joseph Quinn, known for his role as Johnny Storm / Human Torch in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, who was confirmed to be joining the Doomsday team.
It seems many people overlooked the sign over Johnny’s seat, which stated “Fire Perimeter: Keep Clear.” This sign undeniably refers to Johnny’s abilities to generate and control fire.
Following some enthusiasts deciphering it, Dunbar acknowledged one discovery and posted on X (previously Twitter) saying, “Someone spotted it,” thereby validating that it was indeed an Easter egg finding.
Even though Marvel has previously revealed an extensive cast roster for their upcoming film “Doomsday,” they’ve hinted that there’s still more to come in the future. The character known as the Human Torch has played a significant role within the Fantastic Four and Marvel Comics for numerous years.
Although Marvel has already announced many actors for their movie “Doomsday,” they suggested that they aren’t finished yet and will add more later. The Human Torch, who’s been part of the Fantastic Four and Marvel Comics for a long time, plays a significant role.
Initially, Chris Evans, known later as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was the Human Torch in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer released in 2006. However, by 2024, Evans returned to the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Previously, Quinn had acted as Arthur Havisham in Dickensian, Koner in Game of Thrones, Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, and Geta in Gladiator II prior to securing the part of Human Torch within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Or, more concisely: Prior to his casting as Human Torch, Quinn appeared in Dickensian, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, and Gladiator II.
Both versions convey the same information but provide alternative ways of expressing it for variety and clarity.
Avengers: Doomsday debuts in US theaters on May 1, 2026.
