One of the stars of Thunderbolts* is noticeably missing from the Avengers: Doomsday cast.
On Wednesday, it was officially disclosed that the cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes several actors from the Thunderbolts team. Among those joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s group film are Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell playing U.S. Agent/John Walker, Florence Pugh portraying Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman in the role of Bob/Sentry, David Harbour taking on Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost.
Which Thunderbolts* star is missing from the Avengers: Doomsday cast?
Olga Kurylenko is conspicuously absent from the list, as she portrays Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster in the movie. Before the Avengers: Endgame casting announcement, there were whispers, assumptions, and speculation that Kurylenko’s character might not survive the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, due to her limited appearance in the promotional materials released so far.
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Taskmaster perishes in the Thunderbolts, this new information certainly makes those fan theories appear more plausible.
*Taskmaster is a fictional character in Marvel Comics who often serves as an antagonist to various superhero teams.
In a simpler and more conversational style: Jake Schreier is the director of the film Thunderbolts*. The film’s stellar cast features Geraldine Viswanathan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chris Bauer, and Wendell Edward Pierce.
In the film “Thunderbolts”, Marvel Studios brings together an unusual ensemble of antiheroes: Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. According to the plot summary, these misfit characters are drawn into a deadly trap by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Having lost faith in their former lives, they must embark on a perilous journey that will compel them to face the deepest shadows of their past. Will this fractious team self-destruct or manage to find redemption and coalesce into something greater before it’s too late? This question remains unanswered in the thrilling adventure ahead.
Under the supervision of Kevin Feige, the movie titled “Thunderbolts” is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 2, 2025. The sequel, “Avengers: Doomsday”, follows on May 1, 2026, and later, “Avengers: Secret Wars” will premiere on May 7, 2027. In the midst of these two Avengers films, expect to see “Spider-Man 4” on the big screen on July 31, 2026.
