Avengers 5 & 6: Russo Brothers in Talks for MCU Return

As a hardcore Marvel fan and avid gamer of the MCU’s intricate narrative, I cannot contain my excitement at the prospect of the Russo Brothers potentially returning to helm Avengers 5 and its follow-up! Their previous works in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have left indelible marks on the franchise, shaping it into the behemoth it is today.

I was taken aback when I heard rumors that the Russo Brothers could be rejoining Marvel Studios for the production of the upcoming Avengers films number three and four.

Based on a THR report, Joe and Anthony Russo are considering directing both Avengers 5 and its sequel. Discussions are underway, but if they accept, this will mark their fifth and sixth movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Prior to now, the brothers had overseen many renowned Marvel Cinematic Universe productions such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

After achieving great success with “Endgame,” the Russo brothers took a break from Marvel Studios and the superhero genre. Since then, they have directed various films such as “Cherry” (2021) and “The Gray Man” (2022), with their next project, “The Electric State,” scheduled for release this year.

What do we know about Avengers 5?

The name of the film, which was originally titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” has been changed to “Avengers 5” following the dismissal of Jonathan Majors last year. The production for this project was planned to start this year, but with the recent turn of events, its future is uncertain.

As a gamer excitedly waiting for the next Avengers installment, I can’t help but share the latest update on its release date. Originally slated for May 2, 2025, Avengers 5 was supposed to be out in no time. But alas, plans changed as Marvel Studios faced a series of challenges.

Based on Deadline’s latest update about Shawn Levy’s potential participation in the project, insiders disclosed that over 60 Marvel Cinematic Universe characters may make appearances in the film.

Some names mentioned but not yet confirmed include Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tom Hiddleston. Additionally, Deadline revealed that the next Avengers film will feature an equal distribution of roles among the characters, unlike previous installments where only a few took the lead.
