Another Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series is officially in the works at Nickelodeon.
The adored Nickelodeon show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, first aired in 2005. Subsequently, it was succeeded by another series titled The Legend of Korra, which started in 2012 and spanned across 52 episodes.
According to reports, Nickelodeon has commissioned the production of a fresh spinoff titled “Avatar: Seven Havens” based on “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” This upcoming series is set to be divided into two seasons, each featuring 13 half-hour episodes.
The animated series “Avatar: Seven Havens” hails from the minds of Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. At present, this production is underway.
What is the new Avatar: The Last Airbender show about?
The series, according to the official description, takes place in a world that has been torn apart by a catastrophic event. A young Earthbender learns she is the new Avatar following Korra, but in this perilous time, being the Avatar means she is seen as a destroyer of humanity rather than its savior. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she and her long-lost twin must explore their enigmatic past and save the Seven Havens before the remaining fortresses crumble, marking the end of civilization.
In the role of co-executive producers for Avatar: Seven Havens are DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, with Ethan Spaulding holding the position of executive producer. Additionally, Sehaj Sethi is also a co-executive producer.
In their statement, DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko mentioned that when they initially developed the original series, they didn’t anticipate it would continue growing for so many decades. However, this fresh interpretation of the Avatarverse is brimming with enchantment, intrigue, and an array of fascinating new characters. Brace yourselves for another breathtaking and heartfelt journey!
Speaking about Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ramsey Naito, head of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, commented, “For twenty years now, this beautifully constructed universe has captivated audiences around the world with its intriguing characters and innovative storylines. We’re thrilled to start a new journey in this epic tale, as we work on a fresh chapter in the Avatarverse, created by the original minds behind it, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
Apart from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, work on a second season for their live-action adaptations is underway, with plans for an animated movie set to debut in January 2026 as well.
A premiere date for Avatar: Seven Havens has not yet been announced.
