Avatar: Fire and Ash’s Characters Are Forever Changed by Tragic Death

In a recent chat, the actors involved in “Avatar: Fire and Ash” have shared some insights regarding their upcoming film, focusing particularly on how they plan to address one of the startling demises featured in “Avatar: The Path of Water.

How Avatar: Fire and Ash will deal with Neteyam’s death

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Avatar actor Britain Dalton (Lo’ak) discussed the heart-wrenching demise of his character’s brother, Neteyam, in the second film. The sudden death of Neteyam, the eldest son of Jake Sully and Neytiri, has a profound impact on the Sully family and is expected to play a significant role in the events of the upcoming third movie, as director James Cameron hinted.

[Lo’ak] has always shown leadership qualities, yet he’s never been granted the trust,” said Dalton. “Upon the death of Neteyam… this was not the path he had envisioned for himself. He harbors self-blame.

Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, as Tuktirey, remarked, “I believe this event will have a lasting impact on her, as it’s her first encounter with death. Despite this, she remains small yet powerful, and there’s a possibility she might advance in the Sully hierarchy.

Additionally, there’s Spider, a former street kid who turns out to be Colonel Miles Quaritch’s son, now adopted by Sully. As portrayed by actor Jack Champion, Spider grapples with his heritage and identity within the world of Pandora.

Champion explained that he’s grappling with a lot, as his ‘dad’, now in this Na’vi form, remains just as wicked as before, if not more so. Yet, he feels compelled to help him, and this struggle between duty and loathing is clearly evident. It’s also about Spider’s journey of self-discovery, trying to find his place in all of this.

In a new twist, the film titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is directed by none other than James Cameron himself, who collaborated with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver on the script. The talented cast boasts several familiar faces like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, Edie Falco, and others.

Previously, Cameron mentioned that the forthcoming sequel will delve into cultures distinct from those already portrayed. The flame will be symbolized by the ‘Ash People.’ He aims to present the Na’vi from a new perspective as he has thus far only highlighted their positive aspects.

He went on to explain, “In the initial Avatar movies, we see extremely negative human portrayals contrasted with very favorable Na’vi ones. For the third installment, we plan to flip this dynamic. We’ll delve into new worlds and carry forward the narrative of our main characters. I can assure you that the latter parts will be the most compelling. The earlier films served as a setup, a way to prepare for the main event.
