Description for CinemaCon’s Avatar 3 trailer reveals Fire and Ash’s new tribes

At CinemaCon 2025, Disney revealed sneak peeks of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the upcoming third installment in James Cameron’s Avatar series. Alan Bergman played a pre-recorded message from Cameron, who spoke to the audience first. Later, Zoe Saldaña made an appearance on stage to share the film preview.

The video showcased Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully clan, along with the appearance of Stephen Lang reprising his role. Additionally, you’ll see Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Jack Champion, Britain Dalton, Cliff Curtis, Trinity Bliss, and Bailey Bass in this film as well.

The presentation unveiled two fresh Na’vi tribes: the Ash People, who reside near volcanoes, and the sky-faring Wind Traders. A video displayed the red-skinned Ash People assaulting a Wind Trader airship that seemed to float like a hot-air balloon. It emphasized their fiery homeland and their unique skill of creating fire with just a snap of their fingers. One sequence featured Jake Sully and Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) engaging in conflict amidst lava eruptions, glowing plants, a giant moon, and floating rocks. (Based on The Direct)

20 Minutes interviewed Cameron in 2022, who mentioned that Avatar 3 would present a contrast to the previous films’ depiction of noble Na’vi and malevolent humans. He expressed his desire to reveal a new aspect of the Na’vi as he had mainly portrayed their positive attributes up until now. The footage shown at CinemaCon 2025 introduced the Ash People, who are characterized as the more sinister side of the Na’vi, having been molded by volcanic devastation and distancing themselves from Eywa and the woodland Na’vi’s spiritual beliefs.

In the upcoming movie, a fresh human character, played by Michelle Yeoh, will be exploring an alien ecosystem found on Pandora. It’s anticipated that Disney will unveil a promotional trailer for the public around the time Thunderbolts is launched on May 2, 2025.
