Australia Records 1,000 Bitcoin ATMs Milestone

Active Bitcoin ATMs in Australia have now crossed the 1,000 mark, making the country the third-largest hub for crypto ATMs. As of publication, Australia now hosts an active network of 1,002 Bitcoin ATMs, and joins the United States and Canada as the only countries to achieve this feat.

Australia currently holds approximately 2.7% of the total Bitcoin ATMs worldwide, according to recent statistics. On the other hand, the US reached a significant mark by installing its first 1,000 crypto Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in November 2017. Similarly, Canada achieved this milestone in January 2021.

Instead of “However, the US has now added many more, and is now home to 31,170 machines, an impressive 82.8% of the global Bitcoin ATMs,” you could say: The US now hosts approximately 83% of the world’s Bitcoin ATMs, with a total of 31,170 machines in operation.

Growing Adoption of Bitcoin ATMs in Australia

It’s worth noting that the Bitcoin ATM sector in Australia saw limited activity until late in the year 2022. But once private companies joined the fray, there was a remarkable surge in growth.

It’s worth noting that Australia’s rise in Bitcoin ATMs occurred around the same time as a surge in global curiosity about cryptocurrencies. By April 2023, Australia had more Bitcoin ATMs than all of Asia, meaning it surpassed the number in countries like China, Japan, Singapore, and India combined.

Australia is rapidly expanding its number of Bitcoin ATMs and could soon surpass Europe‘s total of 1,617 machines. Europe presently holds 4.3% of the worldwide Bitcoin ATM market. Notable European countries with substantial numbers of crypto ATMs are Spain (261), El Salvador (215), Poland (211), and Germany (194).

Australia’s path to crypto supremacy isn’t without obstacles. Regulations, safety issues, and market instability could hinder progress. But Australia’s determination to innovate and openness to new tech gives hope for a bright future in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Australia marks this achievement with great significance, signaling to the world its commitment to leading the way in cryptocurrency adoption. Initially having a sluggish beginning, Australia could now emerge as a prominent global crypto center.
