According to a recent report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, it’s been confirmed that Jeff Baena and Aubrey Plaza had been apart for several months before the sad demise of the director.

What does Jeff Baena’s latest report show?

According to a coroner’s report, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, it was stated that Plaza and Baena were no longer together since September 2024, and that Baena had been attending therapy due to the couple facing “marital problems” in the time leading up to his death.

In October, it’s said that Baena made comments that alarmed Plaza, leading her to ask a friend to conduct a wellness inspection on her spouse. The result of this check is not known. Additionally, the coroner’s report mentions that Plaza received a text from Baena on the day he passed away.

In 2021, Plaza and Baena chose to tie the knot privately after a decade of being in a relationship. Sadly, Baena passed away not long afterward. Subsequently, Plaza released a short statement expressing their grief over this unexpected tragedy, requesting seclusion during this difficult time.

Baena gained recognition for collaborating with David O. Russell in penning the screenplay for the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees, and for writing, directing, and even having Alison Brie contribute to the script of the 2020 psychological drama Horse Girl in which she starred.
