On a surprising turn, renowned actress Aubrey Plaza made an appearance at the SNL50: The Anniversary Special held in New York City on Sunday. In this event, she had the honor of introducing the evening’s musical acts – Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard.

Spectators swiftly spotted Aliza Plaza’s tie-dye shirt hidden beneath her jacket, a poignant remembrance of her deceased spouse, Jeff Baena. Previously, Plaza had spoken about Baena’s fondness for tie-dying during their quarantine period.

During the lockdown, Baena’s enthusiasm for tie-dying unexpectedly contributed to his sudden wedding with Plaza. As Plaza mentioned on The Drew Barrymore Show, they made a spontaneous decision to get married at 5 p.m., and were wed by 8:30 p.m. It was during the quarantine that Jeff developed a keen interest in tie-dyeing.

She went on to say, “Consequently, I chose that we’d don tie-dye pajamas, handmade by Jeff, for ourselves. I created an alter dedicated to love in our backyard, filled with our cherished items. It had a distinctly witchy vibe, but it transpired as planned.

The unique manner in which Plaza paid tribute to the late director stirred the emotions of fans on social media platforms. A fan commented on X (previously Twitter): “The way she holds love and remembrance is incredibly moving.” Another posted, “Even though it was a television appearance, I can’t help but think this must have been difficult while dealing with grief. For her courage, I applaud her and send her even more affection.

Plaza and her now-deceased husband Baena’s romantic journey dates back to a decade ago. In 2011, they began dating, although they chose to keep the specifics of their relationship under wraps. Professionally, they worked together on numerous ventures.

In various movies directed by Baena, the plaza was featured, such as Life After Beth, Joshy, and Spin Me Round in 2016 and 2022 respectively.
