Astro Bot's director wants PC port hopefuls to speak up & let PlayStation know

As a long-time PlayStation enthusiast who has been through countless generations of consoles, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for Astro Bot’s upcoming release on the PlayStation 5. However, as a PC gamer at heart, the possibility of a PC port has me eagerly tapping my foot, waiting for any sign that this might become a reality.

The highly anticipated launch of Astro Bot on PlayStation 5 is just about here, and one of the many curious questions on everyone’s mind is, “Could we see this game make its way to PC in the future?” It’s possible, but it depends on the level of interest from PC gamers. In a quick-fire interview, Nicolas Doucet, creative director and lead at Team Asobi, hinted at a potential PC port. However, he emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with Asobi and PlayStation Studios, so PC enthusiasts should express their excitement for the game.

This week, Doucet participated in a fast-paced interview with MinnMax, answering a range of questions. During the conversation, Doucet discussed how several cameos from other games are integrated as themed bots within the game, and he also ruled out a PS VR2 version of Astro Bot. When asked about PC gamers who desire to play Astro Bot on their platform, Doucet offered this response:

In other words, Doucet hasn’t explicitly said whether or not a PC version of Astro Bot is in development, but his comments suggest that if fans express their interest strongly enough, there could be a chance for it to happen. It’s not like he’s asking for direct requests to Sony and Asobi, but the timeframe for a potential PC release might well depend on how much demand there is from the gaming community.

Astro Bot will debut on PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2024. To our delight, we had an enjoyable experience during a demo of the game at EVO 2024. This upcoming journey promises to be an exciting new adventure for our lovable robot companion. Keep an eye out for more updates as we approach the game’s release, and stay tuned for any potential news about a PC version.
