As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Ubisoft’s recent decisions regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows have piqued my interest. The removal of Early Access and Season Passes for pre-orders is a move that many gamers have been longing for, myself included.
Ubisoft conducted an interactive question-and-answer session on the Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Discord server, where they revealed their intention to cancel the three-day Early Access offer for pre-orders and also the Season Pass.
No Season Pass or Early Access, is this a promising move from Ubisoft?
Following the underwhelming response to Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft chose to postpone Assassin’s Creed Shadows until February 14, 2025. As a gesture of apology to their community, they appear to be scrapping plans for three-day Early Access and Season Passes as well.
Due to taking away the bonuses, the price of the Collector’s Edition has been lowered from $280 to $230. Everything seems fine up to this point.
Ubisoft hasn’t provided an official reason for these changes yet, but it seems they are trying to regain the trust of gamers by ending practices that players dislike such as Early Access and Season Passes immediately at launch. Additionally, they have begun releasing games on Steam rather than just through Ubisoft Connect, which has been quite popular among the gaming community.
We eagerly anticipate that it will go well for Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and we’ll keep a close eye on its launch. The outcome of this game’s performance is crucial.
