From 2024, the Malayalam survival thriller “Manjummel Boys,” featuring Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi as the main characters, turned out to be one of the most successful blockbusters. Interestingly, it’s been disclosed by actor Asif Ali that he was originally thought of for a role within this movie.
Recently, I had an engaging conversation with Movie World Media on YouTube about being considered for a role in a movie directed by Chidambaram. In our initial talks about the project since his first film, there was a moment where I was planned to portray the character who tumbles into the pit in Manjummel Boys.
The actor shared that learning about the significant influence his character has in the film made him feel more content with another performer taking on the role. He added, “The original choice of casting me might have potentially been detrimental to the movie’s success.
In 2006, I found myself utterly captivated by the gripping tale told in the film “Manjummel Boys.” This wasn’t just any movie; it was a heart-pounding survival thriller inspired by a chilling true event that unfolded within the hauntingly beautiful landscapes of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. You see, a group of friends who were vacationing together dared to venture into the infamous Devil’s Kitchen, more commonly known as the Guna Caves. I couldn’t help but feel the same adrenaline-fueled excitement they must have felt when they embarked on that fateful journey, knowing full well that I was living vicariously through their harrowing ordeal.
During their expedition, one of their companions unintentionally tumbles into the caves and becomes trapped. The ensuing film primarily revolves around the remaining individuals uniting to effect a rescue mission. Starring Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi as the principal characters, the movie also featured notable performances by Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Lal Jr., Abhiram Radhakrishnan, and others in crucial roles.
Moving onto Asif Ali’s upcoming projects, following the significant triumph of Kishkindha Kaandam, he will be featured in the film Rekhachithram. This intriguing mystery crime thriller is helmed by Jofin T Chacko and revolves around a police officer’s exploration of an old crime and the events connected to it.
