In a made-up religious community, the existence of Rosie as a wife and mother undergoes significant change when she encounters Sam, a fugitive from justice. Rosie ventures on a path to self-understanding and feminist enlightenment. Yet, her newfound sexual experiences pose challenges to her past way of living.

In a secluded Christian community dwells the protagonist, Rosie, along with her husband Adam and their child. The arrival of an enigmatic figure named Sam, who is an escaped convict, exposes the true nature and boundaries of Rosie’s world, as suggested by Netflix’s synopsis. It raises questions about whether this hidden religious community may not be acting in Rosie’s best interests. As tensions arise in her marriage with Adam, Sam appears to be Rosie’s ally. However, given his criminal background, it becomes unclear if the greatest threat is from the cult or from Sam himself.

The series “Out of the Dust” was penned, developed, and overseen by Gearey. A seasoned professional in TV production, Gearey is widely recognized for devising shows like “Intergalactic” and “Wives Behind Bars.”

Filming has commenced in the U.K., led by Philippa Langdale (from A Discovery of Witches) and Jim Loach (known for Criminal Records). Iona Vrolyk and Myar Craig-Brown serve as executive producers for Double Dutch Productions, while Nick Pitt is credited as a producer on this project.
