He suggested the possible reappearance of the character Dutch, as well as discussed how recent events might influence the direction of the Predator universe in the future.

According to director Dan Trachtenberg at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, there’s a possibility Arnold Schwarzenegger might rejoin the Predator series after Predator: Badlands. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in Predator (1987), hasn’t reprised his role since then in any of the sequels. But, an extended epilogue has been added to Predator: Killer of Killers, now streaming on Hulu. This extra scene includes Dutch along with Danny Glover’s character Mike Harrigan (from Predator 2) and Amber Midthunder’s character Naru (from Prey). Director Trachtenberg has confirmed that he obtained Arnold Schwarzenegger’s approval to use his likeness in the animated scene.
In various Predator movies such as Predator 2, Predators, and The Predator, attempts were made to bring Arnold Schwarzenegger back into the franchise. However, in a 2017 interview with Yahoo! Movies, he expressed his displeasure with the roles that were offered, stating, “They asked me, but I didn’t like what they presented, so I won’t be partaking.” He hinted at the possibility of returning if the role was significantly rewritten to suit him better.
In the role of director for the upcoming movie “Predator: Badlands,” which stars Elle Fanning and is scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, is none other than Trachtenberg, known for his work on Prey and Killer of Killers. This film, set to delve into an alliance between Fanning’s character, Thia, and a young outcast Predator, will reportedly boast a budget of $100 million. With such resources at its disposal, Predator: Badlands aims to establish significant connections within the Predator and Alien timelines.
Due to Schwarzenegger’s advanced age, a live-action comeback might necessitate intensive de-aging techniques. However, the popularity of Killer of Killers suggests that future appearances may be more probable in animated productions. The concluding scene hints at Dutch’s continued role, potentially in upcoming sequels or crossovers within the franchise.
