The latest ARMA 3 update might boost your rig’s peak FPS, yet it could also dip slightly. Nevertheless, the gameplay will undeniably feel much smoother because frame times will adhere closely to their rendering budget, eliminating significant performance drops.
Bohemia Interactive has shared that the ARMA 3 development team is still working on enhancing the game’s performance. Although the studio is transitioning away from their Real Virtuality engine for upcoming projects, they don’t want to neglect the substantial community of fans who enjoy their earlier games.
As a gamer, I’m sharing the news that Bohemia Interactive has announced ARMA 3’s latest update, version 2.20, will be its last one to support 32-bit systems. Though there are still gamers using older machines, the studio’s stats show that almost all players are now actively gaming on 64-bit systems, so it’s time for us to make the switch!
The developer clarified that they’ll discontinue support for both 32-bit builds, instead channeling all future resources solely into 64-bit. Since a large proportion of Steam users and ARMA 3 players have already transitioned, they encourage others to do the same, particularly those who might be unknowingly using the 32-bit version.
Beyond this, the studio is likewise abandoning compatibility with Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, a step that most developers took years ago. Transitioning to exclusively support contemporary Windows and 64-bit systems will reportedly streamline development for the small team still working on the game and offer additional optimization possibilities, according to the developer.
