As a die-hard fan of AR Rahman, I’ve been through the highs and lows of his extraordinary musical journey. His talent has always been a beacon of inspiration, guiding us through some of the most profound moments in Indian cinema. But even legends like him are not immune to life’s ups and downs. The recent news about his divorce with Saira Banu was undeniably a shock for many of us fans, stirring a wave of emotions.
News about the divorce between AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu sparked discussions online, lasting over two decades of marriage. Meanwhile, whispers started swirling that AR Rahman might be taking some time off work, but this speculation was soon debunked by their daughter Khatija Rahman.
A tweet by film enthusiast Amutha Bharathi, which has since been removed, implied that AR Rahman might be retreating from his profession due to a recent divorce. Yet, Khatija swiftly countered, asking people to refrain from circulating baseless speculations.

Clearing up any confusion, AR Rahman’s work commitments continue uninterrupted, debunking previous rumors suggesting a hiatus. To clarify for those not in the know, on November 19, 2024, AR Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, made an official announcement via her lawyer confirming their divorce after 29 years of marriage.
In their long-lasting marriage, both Mrs. Saira and Mr. AR Rahman have mutually agreed to go separate ways, due to the emotional stress that had built up between them over time.
Regardless of their strong affection, the pair has discovered that strains and challenges have grown into a chasm they can’t overcome for now, a divide that neither is ready to cross at the moment. They kindly ask for seclusion and compassion from the public as they navigate through these tough periods.
After this event, AR Rahman posted a heartfelt message on his official Twitter account about his divorce. His words were, “We had wished to celebrate our 30th anniversary, but it appears that everything has an unexpected conclusion. Even the seat of God could quiver under the burden of shattered hearts. However, in this devastation, we search for meaning, although the fragments may never fit together again.
Moving forward, you can expect AR Rahman to appear as the music composer in the movie “Thug Life,” which stars Kamal Haasan and is directed by Mani Ratnam. Furthermore, he also has the project RC16 featuring Ram Charan on his list of upcoming collaborations, with many more in development.
