Apple reveals more affordable iPhone 16e starting at $599

Apple has confirmed the unveiling of a new product today, which is an affordable model in the latest generation of iPhones – the iPhone 16e. This budget-friendly device offers several features including access to Apple Intelligence capabilities, as well as a new chip designed to deliver performance without significantly increasing the price over a standard iPhone 16. Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e are now open and it is set to launch in February this year.

In today’s press release, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16e, a budget-friendly model in the iPhone 16 series, priced at $599 in retail stores. The phone will be available in black and white matte finishes, with preorders opening on February 21st and shipping commencing on the 28th. Powered by Apple’s new A18 chip, this device supports Apple Intelligence, their latest AI system. Additional features include a 48MP Fusion camera complete with an integrated 2x Telephoto lens. The base model offers 128GB of storage, but there are also options for 256GB and 512GB at $699 and $899 respectively.

The iPhone 16e was hinted at earlier this month through a mysterious announcement by Tim Cook. Not long after, details about it were revealed. It’s intriguing that the launch of a more affordable version of the iPhone was mentioned in a press release with minimal additional excitement. Nevertheless, the iPhone 16e is expected to be an attractive option for people wanting the newest Apple device without breaking the bank.
