‘Anti-Woke’ Basic Instinct Reboot Movie Gets First Details

For nearly four decades, Amazon MGM Studios has commenced work on the development of a reboot for the classic erotic thriller movie “Basic Instinct,” starring Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone. When it initially premiered in 1992, the film faced controversy due to its explicit content but proved to be a massive box office success, raking in over $350 million globally.

Who’s involved in the Basic Instinct reboot?

As per TheWrap’s reports, the author of the original film, Joe Eszterhas (known for his work on Flashdance and Showgirl), has agreed to write the screenplay for Amazon MGM Studios’ reboot of Basic Instinct. This deal is said to have cost the studio a significant sum of $4 million, marking it as the most expensive spec script sale of this year.

The article mentions that there’s a possibility Stone may once again play the memorable character Catherine Tramell. Specific details about the storyline are being tightly guarded, but it’s being labeled as “anti-woke.” United Artists’ Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce this reboot, while Craig Baumgartern and Adam Griffin from Vault Entertainment serve as executive producers.

Estherhas, in response to those doubting an 80-year-old man penning a sensual, thrilling erotic novel, declared in a statement that the claims of his creative incapacitation have been blown out of proportion and are ageist. He affectionately refers to his writing partner as the “Twisted Little Man,” who dwells within him. This inner character was born at 29 and will remain so until he dies, claiming he’s “soaring high” to compose this work and deliver viewers an exhilarating, climactic experience. This brings great joy to Estherhas.
