Anthony Mackie Wants Captain America 5 to Have X-Men Villains

Actor Anthony Mackie is gearing up for his first appearance as Captain America’s alter ego Sam Wilson in “Captain America: Brave New World.” Since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this character has amassed a collection of supervillains to battle. In “Brave New World,” he confronts several adversaries. As the franchise expands further, Mackie has already expressed some ideas about whom Wilson should fight next within the universe, and it’s none other than the X-Men antagonist, Juggernaut.

Anthony Mackie wants X-Men villains like Juggernaut in Captain America 5

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news that Mackie recently hinted at his desire for Captain America to square off against Juggernaut in an upcoming project post Brave New World. This potential development could pave the way for Captain America 5! Interestingly, Aaron W. Reed will portray a variant of Juggernaut in the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), though Ryan Reynolds voiced another version of this formidable foe in Deadpool 2 (2018), and Vinnie Jones brought the character to life in X-Men: The Last Stand back in 2006.

Mackie expressed in an interview with ComicBook that he’s eager to bring some X-Men antagonists into play, specifically mentioning the Juggernaut gang and a few others. He finds these characters intriguing due to the exciting potential of their combat sequences, not necessarily because they are the finest villains, but rather because their powers would create an enticing match against his own power in battle.

As a gaming enthusiast, it’s not just wishful thinking that an unnamed X-Men film is brewing at Marvel Studios – there’s a real chance of it happening! What piques my interest most in the upcoming movie Brave New World is the lineup of villains Captain America will face off against. It seems like Giancarlo Esposito, known as Sidewinder, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader, and Harrison Ford portraying President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, or Red Hulk, will all make appearances.

In the comic world, Juggernaut, whose real name is Cain Marko, shares a family connection with Professor Charles Xavier as they are step-brothers. Unlike Xavier who possesses mutant abilities, Marko’s power stems not from genetics but from a ruby-red gemstone. This gem transformed him into the embodiment of its former owner, a divine entity known as Cyttorak.
