In a busy summer schedule, Amazon MGM Studios has announced the launch date for an eagerly awaited production. The movie titled “Verity,” directed by Michael Showalter and adapted from Colleen Hoover’s popular novel, is scheduled to come out in May 2026. With increasing competition, the studio plans to release the film as a strategic alternative to major franchise debuts.
Josh Hartnett and Anne Hathaway-led Verity gets May 2026 release date
On May 15, 2026, Amazon Studios (in partnership with MGM) will debut Verity, a cinematic rendition of Colleen Hoover’s gripping psychological thriller novel, in movie theaters across the country. This film is helmed by director Michael Showalter and boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva, and Brady Wagner.
As a captivated admirer, I’d recast it like this: “I, Lowen Ashleigh, am unexpectedly hired as a ghostwriter for the renowned Verity Crawford. The circumstances surrounding my employment are shrouded in mystery, but my task soon takes a haunting turn when I uncover Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes. Confronted by a web of deadly family secrets, I find myself grappling to distinguish fact from fiction, all while becoming entangled with Verity’s husband, Jeremy.
As a gamer, I’ve got to give credit where it’s due: Nick Antosca is the one who penned down the latest script for this game-like experience we call a movie. Before him, there were several others who contributed their creative ideas, including Colleen Hoover, Lauren Levine, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and the dynamic duo of Will Honley and April Maguire. In addition to Antosca, an impressive team is working together to produce this masterpiece: Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Michael Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Anne Hathaway, and yes, even Colleen Hoover herself!
Dakota Johnson, Lauren Levine, and Kerry Orent are in charge of overseeing the production. The film is being created by Eat the Cat Productions, Semi-Formal Productions, Shiny Penny Productions, Somewhere Pictures, and Heartbones Entertainment.
Or simply: Dakota Johnson, Lauren Levine, and Kerry Orent are executive producers for the film, which is produced by Eat the Cat, Semi-Formal, Shiny Penny, Somewhere Pictures, and Heartbones Entertainment.
Doomsday and The Mandalorian & Grogu. Additionally, Universal and NEON are planning to debut unnamed films on the same day, as mentioned by both sources.
The evolution follows a current pattern of studios translating Colleen Hoover’s books into films. Just this past month, pictures apparently showed Dakota Johnson, filmed on the set of Verity, drenched in blood. However, Hoover’s other film adaptation, It Ends With Us, is currently embroiled in legal matters concerning director Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively.
