In 2024, Anne Hathaway acted alongside Nicholas Galitzine in ‘The Idea of You’, a film directed by Michael Showalter (from Wet Hot American Summer). This movie is adapted from the book of the same title written by Robinne Lee.
Hathaway has recently agreed to take on the lead role for Amazon MGM Studios’ screen version of Verity, a novel penned by Hoover and first released independently in 2018. Showalter is set to be at the helm as the director for this upcoming movie.
What do we know about Amazon’s Verity movie with Anne Hathaway?
The narrative unfolds around Lowen Ashleigh, a writer facing severe financial difficulties, who lands an incredible opportunity. This offer comes from Jeremy Crawford, husband to the successful thriller author Verity Crawford (played by Hathaway), who unfortunately can’t finish her series due to a strange accident. When Ashleigh arrives at the opulent Crawford estate, she gradually uncovers secrets, such as an unfinished manuscript that could reveal unsettling truths about the family’s past. As Lowen becomes more acquainted with Jeremy and his son Crew, she must determine whether Verity’s writings are merely fictional tales or a chilling warning from a potentially dangerous madman.
In the case of Verity’s script, it was penned by Nick Antosca, although earlier versions were crafted by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire.
In addition to his role in the film, Antosca is also involved as a fellow producer, working alongside Showalter, Hathaway, Hoover, Alex Hedlund, Jordana Mollick, and Stacey Sher. Meanwhile, Lauren Levine takes on the role of executive producer.
At present, Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t announced a specific release date for Verity; however, it’s been confirmed that the film will be screened in American cinemas instead of being premiered on a streaming platform first.
