According to recent reports from Deadline, renowned animation director John Aoshima (known for ‘Ultraman: Rising’) has signed an exclusive multi-year contract with Bill Damaschke’s Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in the field of feature film production. Under this agreement, he will work on developing both original and studio projects as a Director in Development. In simpler terms, Aoshima will be creating new ideas for animated features alongside existing studio projects under this deal.
Previously, Aoshima secured a prestigious opportunity with Netflix, a leading service for introducing animation directors in the current era. It’s been mentioned that he will serve as a guest director for season 2 of “Blue Eye Samurai,” a series on Netflix that has won Emmys and Annie Awards, created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green.
With more than two decades of expertise in television and animated features, Aoshima recently stepped into the realm of feature films as co-director of the critically acclaimed and award-nominated movie “Ultraman: Rising” on Netflix. A graduate from CalArts, he’s renowned for his directorial work on shows such as “DuckTales”, “American Dad!”, and Disney’s popular series “Gravity Falls”.
