Regarding the rumors about if Robert Pattinson‘s portrayal of Batman aligns with the version found in James Gunn’s DC Universe, director Andy Muschietti has voiced his opinion, effectively pouring cold water on the concept.
What did Andy Muschietti say about the DCU’s Batman?
In a recent interview on Radio TU (through Reel Anarchy), Muschietti indicated that the portrayal of Batman in his upcoming film “The Brave and the Bold” will be integrated into the DC Universe, whereas Pattinson’s Batman, connected to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” series, won’t.
In simple terms, Muschietti stated that the version of Batman appearing in The Brave and the Bold belongs to a fresh DC universe, whereas Matt Reeves’ Batman is not connected to this new universe. Moreover, Muschietti hinted that there are plans for a second installment of Reeves’ Batman series, which might be released around 2027. This suggests that we will have to wait some time before the next Batman film premieres.
Muschietti pointed out that releasing The Brave and the Bold, another Batman movie, at this time wouldn’t be beneficial since it could potentially interfere with the success of the existing Batman film.
The director mentioned that he’s still discussing and refining his upcoming film, which he previously announced would be delayed.
Muschietti stated that it would not be beneficial to release two Batman films at once. Instead, DC is devising a strategy to avoid conflicts between these movies. As for his role in the project, there are plans for him to direct the film, and he shares this desire. He’s excited about working on the movie and they’re discussing the storyline and tone.
The future of The Batman’s integration into the DC Universe is still undecided, with conflicting reports emerging from inside sources. Some claim that James Gunn plans to incorporate Robert Pattinson into his ongoing DC Universe, while others stress that no decisions have been made yet. During a Golden Globe Awards interview, Matt Reeves declined to discuss the matter, hinting that he would be open to collaborating with Gunn on future projects.
