Andrew Garfield says he and Florence Pugh didn’t ‘hear cut’ while filming sex scene
According to the actor from The Amazing Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh accidentally continued filming a private scene for an extended period due to not hearing the director signal “cut”. This unusual event is said to have taken place on set.
At a recent talk at 92NY, Garfield shared an unexpected incident from filming a passionate sex scene with Pugh for We Live in Time. In conversation with Josh Horowitz, the actor explained what happened on set: “The scene became very intense as we had choreographed it. We got carried away and went beyond our intended limits since we didn’t hear ‘cut,’ and it felt safe.
The actor, who was 41 years old, later explained that he began to understand the situation. “At some stage,” he said, “it felt as if both of us were silently conveying to each other, ‘This seems to be an extended shot’.
Andrew Garfield revealed that cinematographer Stuart Bentley didn’t reduce the length of their prolonged love scene with Florence Pugh. Instead, he adjusted his camera to face away and waited until the actors had finished. According to Garfield, “[Stuart] had the camera by his side, and he turned it towards the wall.
Regardless of the strange event, the actor from Hacksaw Ridge expressed only admiration for his fellow performer during an interview with Horowitz. Garfield went on to praise Pugh’s professionalism as well. He also commented that she is “extremely self-assured about her body and her sensuality.
We Live in Time is currently scheduled to hit the theatres on October 11, 2024.
