As a dedicated gamer, I’m all systems go and ready for the chance to step back into the boots of Bail Organa once more if offered a role in another Star Wars venture post my appearance in Andor Season 2.
In the upcoming season of Andor, produced by Tony Gilroy, Forest Whitaker takes on the role of Bail Organa. Previously, Jimmy Smits portrayed this character in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from 2016, and Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2022. However, due to scheduling issues, Smits was unable to reprise his role for Andor.
In the official narrative, after the conclusion of Andor Season 2, it’s established that Bail becomes Leia Organa’s adoptive father. Tragically, he meets his end on Alderaan when the planet is annihilated by the Death Star, as portrayed in the initial Star Wars film.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel excited about the prospect that, despite his character not making an appearance in future projects beyond “A New Hope”, there’s still a possibility he might pop up in a storyline that unfolds prior to the movie’s events.
What did Andor’s Benjamin Bratt say about reprising his Star Wars role?
When Entertainment Weekly inquired whether he’d consider reprising the role for future ventures, Bratt expressed his readiness, stating that he would be “ready and willing” if such an opportunity presents itself.
He mentioned that he’d be happy to help with craft services for Tony on his next project, as long as there’s enthusiasm. He holds Tony in high regard, even though they rarely worked together due to circumstances such as Tony being based overseas and the writers’ strike. Despite this, Tony assembled an exceptional group of writers, directors, and actors, resulting in a production that functions seamlessly from top to bottom. In his opinion, it represents television at its best. He’s deeply grateful and feels privileged to be a minor contributor to this project.
