Having grown up with the original 1997 film, I remember the heart-stopping moments of fear and suspense that had me on the edge of my seat. The prospect of Jack Black and Paul Rudd taking on this iconic role is a dream come true.
Jack Black and Paul Rudd announced on social media the formal release date for “Anaconda,” sharing when the upcoming reimagining of the horror movie is set to debut.
When is the Anaconda release date?
In their latest promotional video, the pair announced that the Anaconda remake will premiere on December 25, 2025 – perfect timing for a Christmas treat for fans. They didn’t share many details about the movie, but they did assure viewers that it would feature a “massive snake,” in line with the original film.

Joining Black and Rudd in the upcoming Anaconda film is Daniela Melchoir. As for other cast members, details remain undisclosed at this point. The new Anaconda movie is being helmed by director Gormican, with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form serving as producers under their Fully Formed banner.
Based on initial reports about the upcoming film, it’s not going to be a re-creation of the 1997 movie featuring Jon Voight, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson. Instead, it appears to be a fresh interpretation with the iconic snake still at the forefront, but the plot is said to have a comedic slant, as suggested by Deadline’s report.
1997’s Anaconda, helmed by Luis Llosa, spawned one theatrical sequel, 2004’s Anacondas: The Search for the Blood Orchid. It also led to several television spin-offs like 2008’s Anaconda 3: Offspring and 2009’s Anacondas: Curse of the Blood. Additionally, there was a 2015 crossover film titled Lake Placid vs. Anaconda, and a Chinese remake is set to release in 2024.
A release date for the new Anaconda movie has not yet been announced.
