Approximately a decade ago, during the promotion of the movie Knock Knock in Chile, an interaction took place. At that point, de Armas was relatively new in the United States and still improving her English skills. She remembered being at a press lunch and finding herself opposite Reeves. The actress found it hard to keep up with most of the discussion, and matters became even more uncomfortable when someone brought up The Matrix.

The actress mentioned that she once said, “He questioned if I had watched it, and my response was ‘The Matrix? No.’ However, when someone at the table informed me in Spanish, ‘You haven’t seen La Matrix?’ I realized my mistake, saying, ‘Oh, La Matrix.
