As an avid moviegoer who has braved countless cineplexes with their earplugs at the ready, I can only applaud Resul Pookutty for his tireless efforts to ensure that our cinematic experiences are not ruined by unbearable sound levels. His plea for theater owners to tune and adjust the speakers in advance of Pushpa 2: The Rule is a testament to his dedication and passion for his craft.
Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty grabbed attention when he addressed complaints of the Kanguva being loud in the theaters. Many of the viewers left troublesome reviews, expressing their displeasure with the sound and background score of the Suriya starrer being extremely high. And recently, the sound designer dropped another post, this time pleading a request to theater owners ahead of the next mega release, Pushpa 2: The Rule.
On his account (previously known as Twitter), Resul posted a snapshot from the editing suite of the forthcoming Allu Arjun film and appealed to cinema hall managers, urging them to fine-tune and calibrate their speakers ahead of time.
The post was created as a response to the noise-related issues reported about Kanguva, aiming to ensure that the audience watching Pushpa 2: The Rule in cinemas doesn’t encounter the same disturbance.

Today, the trailer for ‘Pushpa2: The Rule’ is being released, and it’s been a busy time on various fronts. I want to let all movie enthusiasts and fans know that ‘Pushpa2’ will be mixed at standard Dolby Level 7. I kindly ask all theaters to adjust their amplifiers and speakers in advance, @MythriOfficial @alluarjun @PushpaMovie.
For those unfamiliar, in a past Instagram post, Resul spoke about the criticism Kanguva’s makers faced regarding the loud music score throughout the film, which many viewers felt was too overpowering and negatively impacted their overall viewing enjoyment.
He pointed out that no movie within the film industry could reach its maximum potential if viewers left feeling a terrible headache due to excessive loud sounds.
The creators of Kanguva also acknowledged the criticism the movie faced, primarily concerning its less-than-optimal sound editing, causing some viewers to label it as overly loud.
At a recent media conference, Gnanavel Raja, the film’s producer, addressed the unfavorable criticisms and promised that appropriate adjustments would be made in response.
He mentioned that they had consulted with each exhibitor and asked them to decrease the volume by two decibels in order to eliminate any negative comments concerning its loudness. It’s not an error on the part of the DSP; the excessive loudness is due to sound mixing, and it will be rectified during tonight’s performance.
On December 5, 2024, the movie Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and others, will make its debut.
