As a dedicated follower, I’d express it this way: Time and again, Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has found himself in the spotlight due to his outspoken remarks. Whether it’s criticizing his own movies or speaking up about conflicts with actors, he’s always been frank and forthright. Lately, he made waves when he expressed dissociation from one of his highly-acclaimed films featuring Dhanush.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon expressed that he no longer wishes to retain ownership of the movie “Enai Noki Paayum Thota,” a production featuring Dhanush and Megha Akash as the main characters.
He also mentioned that he feels remorseful about creating the movie, and he’s been humorously expressing his intention to disavow it for a while.
Instead, Gautham expressed that even though he doesn’t wish to avoid his duties for the film, he no longer prefers to be connected with it.
In his own terms, he expressed, “Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019) is the only movie I look back on with a sense of regret, and I’ve been using humor about it. This doesn’t mean I’m avoiding my obligations, but rather a way for me to distance myself from the film. Apart from this instance, there are no regrets.
To put it simply, there was a significant dispute between the filmmaker and actor Dhanush during the production of this very film. As a result, they have yet to reconcile and communicate since then.
Additionally, according to some accounts, it is said that Dhanush secretly took over the directorial responsibilities of the film, particularly following delays in the production and eventual release of Enai Noki Paayum Thota.
It’s not the first occasion where Gautham Vasudev Menon publicly distanced himself from the movie featuring Dhanush in interviews with the press.
In another conversation with Galatta Plus, instead of acknowledging the film, he chose to overlook it, and furthermore, corrected the host when they mentioned it was a movie he himself had directed.
