Amanda Seyfried has shared details again about her auditions for the movie Wicked, giving fans a peek behind the scenes. On the June 19 edition of the Backstage’s In the Envelope podcast, the actress disclosed that she auditioned no less than six times to play Glinda in Wicked.

According to Seyfried, she finds herself in a fortunate position where she doesn’t need to audition anymore. However, she emphasizes that she did audition for the role of Glinda in Wicked six times. She continued by stating that the part had to be perfect and added that she adored it.

Although she had a very packed schedule, Seyfried found opportunities to audition. She admitted, “I was swamped with work, barely finding time for it, but I managed to make it happen.” She elaborated on the extensive effort she put into rehearsing songs and meticulously preparing every aspect of her performance. The actress reminisced, “I’ve worked tirelessly for years and years on that music. I’m self-competitive in a balanced way.

On multiple occasions, Seyfried has expressed her determination to secure the role, including back in March when she talked about it on Happy Sad Confused. During one particular round, she described the experience of singing alongside Cynthia Erivo as being particularly memorable, stating, “I also got to sing with Cynthia, and that was a special moment for me.

Despite Ariana Grande eventually landing the role, earning Oscar nominations for both Grande and Erivo, Seyfried harbors no regrets. She expressed, “I had the opportunity to thoroughly prepare, and let me tell you, I’ve never felt more confident in my voice than during the auditions. And that’s what I took away from the experience.
