Along Came Amor is a lovely end to the Primas of Power series

Creating a romance series isn’t a walk in the park. It could be intertwined standalone tales, an extended narrative, or chronicling the same pair – but Alexis Daria seems to handle it effortlessly.

I found it thrilling to secure an advance reader copy of Daria’s newest book, titled “Along Came Amor“. Being the last installment in the Primas of Power series, it was a highly anticipated read that I had been patiently waiting for over several months.

Fortunately, I managed to grab the second book, “A Lot Like Adios,” before reading it, which served as a recap for me. In contrast to the first two books, however, “Along Came Amor” had a concise quality that felt surprisingly fresh and different from Daria’s usual style.

It’s a pleasure to express gratitude towards HarperCollins for providing me with an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book. Reading it was just what I needed to complete my reading list for April, and it has ignited my desire to explore more works by Alexis Daria.

Along Came Amor is an emotional yet unforgettable romance.

If you’ve been keeping up with the “Primas of Power” series, it was no secret that Ava would have her own story next. The specifics were uncertain, but Alexis Daria certainly delivered on this project. We find ourselves following Ava, a woman who has recently ended her marriage and is eager to reinvent herself and live more authentically.

Ava first heads to the bar where she engages in flirtatious banter with an attractive fellow patron. However, it’s not just any man – he happens to be the owner of the hotel where she’s staying, and there seems to be a strong attraction between them from the get-go. Given her recent divorce, Ava isn’t keen on rushing into another relationship, but Roman is clearly smitten with her. As a result, they find themselves in an informal arrangement rather than a full-blown relationship.

Initially, it’s all smooth sailing as I lean on Roman whenever I need him, but things become increasingly complex when we find ourselves in intricate roles – I’m my cousin’s maid of honor, and he’s the best man for the groom. From then on, it’s a thrilling dance between our growing feelings and the challenge of navigating our relationship without compromising the strong foundation we’ve established along the way.

Among all the books in the series, “Along Came Amor” stands out as the most heartfelt, and there’s a solid explanation for this emotional depth. Ava is struggling to mend herself following her divorce, yet she finds herself entangled with a demanding family who seem determined to intrude on her solitude. Being a natural people-pleaser, Ava finds it difficult to assert boundaries, and the arrival of Roman only complicates matters further for her.

In simpler terms, Ava’s family might drive you to distraction, but they also make you yearn to comfort her and protect her. Essentially, you find yourself identifying with the character Roman, which is why I believe this book is so powerful. There’s a strong sense of familiarity in how Ava handles situations, and that’s what made her journey towards her Happily Ever After (HEA) so enjoyable for me. After all she’s done for others, it was heartwarming to see her finally receive something for herself.

You’d likely find yourself quite impressed by how well Alexis Daria delivers with this series. If you’re in the market for a fresh romance read, I’d recommend giving the Primas of Power a try. Each book shares a connected universe but offers unique tropes and narratives. What’s more, her writing style is so engaging that you might find yourself racing through the pages without realizing it.

Along Came Amor by Alexis Daria is out now where books are sold.
