As a dedicated fan of The CW’s hit football drama “All American,” I am thrilled beyond words that my beloved show has been renewed for a seventh season! Despite the network undergoing significant changes with both spinoffs “All American: Homecoming” and “Superman & Lois” coming to an end, it’s heartening to know that “All American” will continue to grace our screens.
In an unprecedented period of transformation for The CW, “All American” has emerged as the lone survivor. With its spin-offs “All American: Homecoming” and “Superman & Lois” wrapping up their final seasons this fall, “All American” is the only pre-Nexstar series to secure a renewal. Translation: “All American” will return for a seventh season on The CW!
On June 3rd, The CW officially renewed the show for another season, well before the Season 6 finale aired on July 15th. Despite maintaining consistent viewership, the series has thrived on Netflix since its debut, consistently ranking among the top 10 shows. Just one week after its television finale, Season 6 became available on Netflix and reached as high as No. 3 in the daily rankings (currently sitting behind “Cobra Kai”).
As a dedicated gamer following “All American,” I’m excited yet a bit apprehensive about the upcoming seventh season. Although season 6 saw a decrease in episode count, with only 15 episodes produced due to strikes, season 7 is set to have the least number of installments ever – just 13 episodes. Moreover, this season will mark a significant change as Daniel Ezra, a pivotal cast member, won’t be returning as a series regular.
All American season 7 coming in 2025
If you’re disappointed that Ezra won’t be a regular cast member in season 7 of “All American,” according to Variety, The CW assures fans that his character Spencer James will continue to play a significant role, but only as a guest star. In the same Variety article reporting Ezra’s departure from the show, “All American” showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll hinted that he would still be involved with the production both on and off-screen for the upcoming season.
In simpler terms, it wasn’t surprising that the main characters were replaced and the show’s direction might change after season 6, as earlier reports indicated a possible focus on new characters and actors for the seventh season. Before the new season begins, expect several announcements regarding these new additions. (No spoilers!)
The CW starts its new fall schedule in September and lasts until November. However, “All American” won’t debut on the network during this period. Instead, its seventh season is set to air on The CW in 2025. Exact premiere dates have not been announced as of July 2024, but our guess is that it may come out early in 2025.
As a devoted fan of this popular series, I’ve grown accustomed to the rhythm of its release schedule. Each new season premieres on The CW and eight days later, it magically appears on Netflix for my binge-watching pleasure. So, with excitement and anticipation, I look forward to the seventh season’s arrival on both platforms in 2025.
