As a die-hard fan of the Alien franchise who has survived countless viewings of the terrifying saga, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the announcement of Alien: Romulus 2! Having grown up with these iconic movies, the prospect of revisiting the horror and suspense that come with the Alien series is simply exhilarating.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the highly anticipated sequel, Alien: Romulus 2, is under development! The talented Fede Álvarez is set to return in some capacity, and it looks like Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson might step back into their roles as Rain and Andy once more. Here’s to an unforgettable journey ahead!
In August 2024, the United States saw the release of Alien: Romulus, which was the seventh installment in the Alien series (if we count the two Alien vs. Predator movies as well, it would be the ninth). This film takes place between the events depicted in the original 1979 Alien and its sequel, Aliens, released in 1986.
20th Century Studios’ Steve Asbell shared with The Hollywood Reporter that plans for an Alien: Romulus sequel are under development, and it’s anticipated that negotiations with director F. Javier Álvarez will be wrapped up soon.
What did Steve Asbell say about Alien: Romulus 2?
Currently, we’re brainstorming a follow-up concept, and while we haven’t finalized our agreement with Fede yet, it will happen soon. He’s come up with an idea that we’re developing. The characters Rain and Andy, portrayed by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were standout performances in the original film. This leaves me wondering about their future adventures – ‘What exciting destinations do fans envision for them?’ Since there will be aliens and terrifying horror scenes, we’re certain of that. However, I grew fond of both characters, so I want to explore their story further.
In the sci-fi series Alien: Romulus, Archie Renaux plays Tyler, Isabela Merced portrays Kay, Spike Fearn takes on Bjorn, and Aileen Wu embodies Navarro. You can stream or buy it on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and various other digital outlets.
In this science fiction/horror-thriller, a crew of young explorers delve into the abandoned depths of a space station, where they encounter the scariest creature the cosmos has to offer, harkening back to the origins of the widely acclaimed Alien series.
