Alien: Covenant Sequel Has a Natural Starting Point, Explains Ridley Scott

As a long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing Ridley Scott’s hints about a potential sequel to Alien: Covenant. With his unparalleled vision and knack for creating terrifyingly compelling sci-fi, it feels like we’re on the brink of something truly extraordinary.

Ridley Scott has stirred excitement among fans with news of his upcoming Alien film. Although specifics are yet unknown, the esteemed director has shared insights on why a follow-up to 2017’s Alien: Covenant could be highly plausible.

What did Ridley Scott say about a potential Alien: Covenant sequel?

When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Scott was queried about a possible follow-up for ‘Covenant’, humorously comparing its ending with 2024’s ‘Alien: Romulus’, where both films conclude with spaceships departing towards uncharted worlds. Scott opined that a sequel to ‘Covenyant’ seems the most logical among the two, given the storyline’s conclusion.

Scott stated that ‘Covenant’ is the ideal choice for a sequel as it ends with the girl being in a cryo pod and Michael Fassbender’s android character, David, having alien eggs and approximately 2,000 colonists present. This setup makes for an excellent starting point.

Last week, there were announcements about a fresh Scott Alien film. According to THR’s report, the director is currently collaborating with 20th Century Studios on a new installment in the series. Interestingly, Scott was also behind Romulus, and a sequel for it is coming soon. Additionally, Scott’s much-anticipated Gladiator II is slated to release later this year.

In 1979, Scott initiated the Alien series with the film “Alien,” featuring Sigourney Weaver. This was later followed by James Cameron’s “Aliens” in 1986, along with several other sequels such as “Alien 3” (1992) and “Alien Resurrection” (1997).
