Apple TV+ has unveiled the formal trailer for its upcoming sci-fi dark comedy titled “Murderbot,” starring Alexander Skarsgård, a Golden Globe winner known for his roles in True Blood and Big Little Lies. The ten-episode series is set to debut on streaming platforms from Friday, May 16, with the first two episodes available initially. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly, every Friday, up until July 11.

The video presents Skarsgård in the role of a rebellious security robot, growing weary of observing mankind’s foolish behavior. The science fiction series “Murderbot” is created, overseen, and brought to life on screen by the Oscar-nominated team Chris and Paul Weitz, who adapted it from Martha Wells’ popular and critically acclaimed book series “The Murderbot Diaries,” which has won both Hugo and Nebula Awards. The show boasts a talented cast including Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones, and Tamara Podemski. The executive producers are Andrew Miano for Depth of Field, David S. Goyer, Keith Levine from Phantom Four, with Wells providing guidance as a consulting producer. This production is under the banner of Paramount Television Studios.

The story centers around a security construct that hacks itself, feeling repelled by human feelings but compelled towards its fragile clients.
