Alan Cumming is thrilled to be returning as X-Men’s Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday.
In 2003, Alan Cumming portrayed Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United. He didn’t appear in any subsequent X-Men films, but now it’s been revealed that Cumming will once again take on the role in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
What did Alan Cumming say about reprising his Nightcrawler role for Avengers: Doomsday?
In a chat on the show “Today With Jenna and Friends,” as reported by Variety, Cumming talked about reprising his role as Nightcrawler.
He expressed his enthusiasm and astonishment, stating, ‘Can you believe it? It’s been 23 years since I last donned the superhero cape. I’ve had makeup trials for this role, and what’s fantastic is that the application time has been reduced from nearly five hours to just 90 minutes!’
He added, “Previously, all the tattoos were hand-drawn. We hadn’t planned them out before we began shooting. Now, they simply adhere to my face. It’s revolutionary! I’m returning to the role of a 60-year-old superhero, and everyone seems quite friendly.
Besides Cumming, there are other X-Men movie actors who will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The film’s ensemble includes Kelsey Grammer playing Hank McCoy/Beast, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Rebecca Romijin as Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, and James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops. Furthermore, Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Remy LeBeau/Gambit, having first appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine.
In addition to several Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) actors, Avengers: Endgame (directed by the Russo Brothers) holds a number of secret roles yet to be disclosed.

The excitement doesn’t end there; just a year later, on May 7, 2027, we’ll witness the grand spectacle of “Avengers: Secret Wars,” both directed by the talented Russo brothers!
