As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the story of Al Pacino’s Shrek phone case has struck a chord with me. It’s not often we see such an iconic figure as Al Pacino embracing something as whimsical and downright charming as a Shrek phone case.
More recently, Al Pacino shared the tale behind the buzz-worthy Shrek phone case he’s been spotted with. The case, adorned with images of the beloved ogre character, was a thoughtful present from his daughter Olivia. Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the first time the case caught public attention; fans initially took notice in a 2022 photo alongside Jason Momoa.
Al Pacino reveals Shrek phone case was gifted by his daughter
Al Pacino recently shared the story behind his Shrek phone case during an interview with the BBC News while promoting his memoir, Sonny Boy.
When BBC Correspondent Colin Paterson remarked, “I didn’t expect to see Shrek on Al Pacino’s phone case,” Pacino clarified how he obtained the accessory. He stated, “My daughter gifted it to me,” further explaining that his youngest child, Olivia, had temporarily taken his phone and later returned it with a Shrek cover. He recounted her words, “She told me, ‘It’s Shrek, Dad!’ I said, ‘Shrek? Wow. Alright baby, I’ll keep it for now.’
In April 2022, a photo of Al Pacino with a Shrek-themed phone case caught everyone’s attention, courtesy of Jason Momoa sharing it during dinner. The image quickly spread across social media, but it wasn’t until people pointed out the design on his phone that Pacino took notice. In an earlier interview with Harry Smith from TODAY, the famous actor admitted he didn’t realize what was on his phone until social media informed him, at which point he exclaimed, “That’s Shrek!” When asked if he still had the case, Pacino affirmed that indeed he did, as it was a present.
The Shrek phone cover has gained popularity among fans, who enjoy the humorous juxtaposition between the actor’s on-screen character and the fun-loving accessory. DreamWorks Animation even recognized this by tweeting, “Real recognizes real,” along with an image of Shrek holding a phone case depicting Al Pacino’s face.
