55-year-old Scottish actor Rory McCann has signed up for Ahsoka Season 2, taking over the role of Baylan Skoll from the late Ray Stevenson. McCann is best recognized for his portrayal of Sandor “The Hound” Clegane on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

Ray Stevenson originally took on the character of Baylan Skoll for seven episodes in Ashoka’s first season. Sadly, Stevenson passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 58. Ashoka premiered on Disney+ on August 22, 2023. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Rory McCann is set to play Baylan Skoll in Ashoka’s second season. Moreover, industry insider Jeff Sneider has confirmed the casting reports regarding McCann.

Ashoka is a significant character within the constantly growing Star Wars universe. The narrative centers around Ashoka Tano, who was once Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan prior to his transformation into Darth Vader. Post the fall of the Galactic Empire, Ashoka teams up with her comrades in an effort to locate Grand Admiral Thrawn, preventing him from causing harm to the New Republic.

In this show, we have Rosario Dawson playing Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo portraying Sabine Wren, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead taking on the role of Hera Syndulla. Additionally, Hayden Christensen can be seen as both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, Lars Mikkelsen brings Grand Admiral Thrawn to life, and Eman Esfandi stars as Ezra Bridger in the series.

During its premiere, Ahsoka’s first season attracted substantial audience interest and generally favorable reviews from critics. In early 2024, it was announced by Lucasfilm that the production of Ahsoka’s second season was already underway.

Apart from Game of Thrones, McCann has been seen in shows like The Book Group, Alexander, and Jumanji: The Next Level. It’s said that he was friends with Stevenson off-screen. Originating from Glasgow, Scotland, McCann started his artistic journey as a painter, studying at the Scottish School of Forestry close to Inverness. He kicked off his acting career in a minor role as Gordon in the 1999 drama film Ratcatcher, marking the beginning of his path in show business.

McCann was a regular character across all seasons of Game of Thrones, excluding Season 5. His portrayal of the tormented soldier, The Hound, earned him significant acclaim and recognition.
