Luca Guadagnino’s film titled “After the Hunt” boasts an illustrious cast consisting of Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri, along with others. Distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, the movie has a confirmed US premiere date slated for October 2025.

Amazon Studios and MGM have chosen to debut “After the Hunt” in selected cinemas on October 10, 2025, followed by a nationwide expansion on October 17, 2025. This simultaneous wide release coincides with Lionsgate’s film “Good Fortune” and Blumhouse’s sequel “The Black Phone 2”.
In the storyline of “After the Hunt,” Julia Roberts’ character Alma Olsson, a college professor, finds herself at a critical juncture in both her personal life and career. A student she highly regards, Maggie Price (played by Edebiri), accuses one of her colleagues, Henrik Gibson (portrayed by Andrew Garfield), of misconduct. Meanwhile, a long-hidden secret from Alma’s own past looms as a potential revelation. The film also features Michael Stuhlbarg as Frederik Olsson, Chloë Sevigny as Kim, along with Lio Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, and Will Price in various supporting roles.
Nora Garrett wrote the screenplay for After the Hunt, marking it as her initial venture into feature-length writing. Previously, she has acted in shows like Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and 8 Confessions based in Los Angeles. In addition to her acting career, she is also assuming the role of executive producer for this film.
Apart from serving as the director, Guadagnino will also be responsible for producing the film. The renowned Italian filmmaker is celebrated for his distinctive style of storytelling and his profound examination of emotional and physical intimacy. His film Bones and All earned him the Silver Lion for Best Direction at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, while Call Me by Your Name, released in 2017, was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category.
Significantly, Guadagnino’s upcoming film, “After the Hunt,” marks his initial joint work with all three main actors involved in the production.
