After TFPC decides to ban Dhanush, Nadigar Sangam aims to resolve issues with Producers' body

As a seasoned film enthusiast with over three decades of immersion in Tamil cinema, I have witnessed the ebb and flow of industry disputes, but the ongoing standoff between the Actors’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) and the Tamil Film Producers’ Council has been particularly intriguing.

To find a resolution for the ongoing conflict between the Actors’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) and the Tamil Film Producers’ Council, the council convened a meeting to deliberate upon the limitations imposed by the association. These restrictions pertain specifically to actors Dhanush and Vishal, as well as their decision to cease filming on November 1st.

According to News18’s report, it appears that the Nadigar Sangam aims to address the problems by engaging in constructive dialogues with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council. The gathering was presided over by Nassar, who serves as the President of the Actors’ Association.

I was honored to have esteemed individuals such as Vice President Poochi Murugan, Treasurer Karthi, and fellow Executive Committee members present at our gathering. My esteemed colleagues General Secretary Vishal and Vice President Karunas joined us virtually, making their valuable contributions despite being unable to attend in person.

Following the gathering, seasoned actor Nasser spoke to the media. He expressed, “Our goal is to expand and enhance the film industry. We’ve made certain decisions concerning the recent guidelines enforced by the Tamil Film Producers’ Council, so we’d prefer a private meeting for discussions. We choose not to discuss these issues through the press.”

In addition, speaking to the media, Vice President Poochi Murugan affirmed that the TFPC had communicated in a letter that the matters could be resolved through discussions.

“We want to maintain a friendly relationship with everyone in the film industry. It is common for them to file complaints against certain actors, and for us to respond to those. Regardless, we have requested the Producers’ Council to sit for negotiations and resolve the issues,” he added.

Additionally, Poochi expressed confidence that all issues could be resolved through discussions, with the concluding meeting set for the following week.

For those unfamiliar, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) gathered in Chennai to deliberate on a temporary pause of all movie-related work until November 1. This decision was made to assess the increasing production costs and to clear pending films. Additionally, during this meeting, superstar Dhanush faced criticism from the council for reportedly not appearing at shoots after receiving money from film producers.

Additionally, the council has shown a warning (red card) to the actor Rayan and advised the production team to consult with them prior to casting him in future roles. Besides Rayan, Tamil actor Vishal was also given a red card for suspected misuse of the council’s funds during his presidency term at TFPC.
