After 20 Years, Developers Behind God of War Create New IP

As a seasoned gamer who’s witnessed the evolution of Santa Monica Studio from their humble beginnings with Kinetica to the colossal impact they made with God of War, I can hardly contain my excitement about their new IP! The mere fact that they’re on the hunt for a Character Supervisor signals a fresh adventure brewing outside the pantheon of God of War.

In the year 2001, Santa Monica Studio debuted its maiden video game titled “Kinetica”. Following this, in the year 2005, they unveiled their groundbreaking game, “God of War”, marking the beginning of a franchise that would significantly influence the studio’s future works.

A user on ResetEra recently discovered a LinkedIn profile suggesting that Santa Monica Studio might be working on a new original project (IP).

Santa Monica Studio’s New IP

While we’re unsure about the title or genre of the upcoming game, one thing is certain – it’s currently being worked on for release.

In the Info section of this LinkedIn profile, the developer wrote:

Santa Monica Studios presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline, on their new unannounced project , so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing Characters in videogames together.

It’s clear that Santa Monica Studio is seeking a new Character Supervisor, implying that they are likely working on a fresh project, distinct from the universe of God of War.

What this game will look like will probably be revealed in the next few years.

Regardless of anything else, the fact that Santa Monica has been producing fantastic music lately has us incredibly eager for it.

What do you think? Will this game be another action-adventure, or something different?
